Adobe Dreamweaver is a web development application initially created by Macromedia, and is now developed by Adobe Systems, which acquired Macromedia in 2005.

Dreamweaver is accessible for both Mac and Windows operating systems. Recent versions have built-in support for web technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and various server-side scripting languages and frameworks including ASP, ColdFusion, and PHP.

Dreamweaver allows users to preview sites in locally installed web browsers .

It provides transfer and synchronization features, the ability to find and replace lines of text or code by search terms and regular expressions across the whole site, and a templating feature that allows single-source update of shared code and layout across whole sites without server-side includes or scripting.

The behaviours panel of Dreamweaver also allows use of basic JavaScript without any coding knowledge, and integration with Adobe’s Spry Ajax framework offers simple access to dynamically-generated content and interfaces.

HTML can be cumbersome. Dreamweaver writes (for the most part) lovely, valid HTML using a simple point-and-click interface.

Dreamweaver has fixed dependency tracking that will automatically manage your files and will update your pages accordingly.

Dreamweaver has lovely tools to assist you in laying out your site. There’s also lots of ‘pre-fab’ layouts and templates available as beginning points in Dreamweaver CS3.
